WHO
WAS CARMEN LUPIS?
Carmen Lupis was born in 1833, the daughter of a poor
farmer from Cordoba, Mexico. Her father worked on the farm while
she helped her mother around the house. She began experimenting in
the kitchen while preparing dishes for her family. Right away, her
family realized that Carmen's talent belonged in the kitchen.
At the tender age of 16, Carmen joined a group of young Mexicans and
traveled north to San Francisco to lay claim on the Great Gold Rush of
1849. During that journey, she learned new and exciting ways to
perfect her culinary talents. By the time she reached San
Francisco, Carmen had already gained a reputation for her tasty dishes
throughout California and Mexico.
In San Francisco, the miners played a game with a ball and stick which
later became known as baseball. From the first day she saw it,
Carmen love the game. After each game on Sunday, she would cook a great
feast for all the ball players. One day she realized she had
amassed all the gold she would ever need in her life and headed East to
Texas. She eventually died in a small town west of Lubbock in
1903, the same year the very first organized baseball game was played in
Coopertown.
At Lupi's we are proud to bring you fine Mexican mixtures in the same
old fashion way Carmen had once prepared them, baseball and call.
We hope that you appreciate our high standards of quality and service because
as our customer, you are the primary concern. If you know of a way
in which we may improve our service, please feel free to let us
know. Remember, to serve you better is our main goal.
